Habit:
Pink Turtlehead grows 1 to 3 ft tall, topped with pink turtlehead shaped flowers in late
summer early fall. Foliage is dark
green, glossy and pest free. Under garden conditions it will grow in any rich
moist soil in light to moderate shade. The lustrous green foliage and pink
flowers combine well with many other perennials.
In the wild PT grows in moist rich
soils in swamps, flood plains and moist woods. It slowly spreads from the root
system or from seed. It is deer
resistant and the blooms attract, bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
